Welsh Government Written Statement: COVID vaccination status via the digital NHS COVID Pass

From today (25th June 2021) people in Wales will be able to access their vaccination status on the internet via a digital NHS COVID Pass if they need to travel urgently and meet the vaccine requirements relevant to the country they are travelling to. Access to the NHS COVID Pass in Wales means that proof of vaccination will be available for people to show on their phone, tablet or laptop and should be the default option for all those requiring proof of vaccination status when travelling internationally.
NHS COVID Pass letters have been available in Wales since May for those who need to urgently travel internationally and provide proof of their vaccination status, with certificates being sent in the post. To date nearly 15,000 have been requested. The letters will continue to be issued only for people who are unable to access the digital Pass through the Welsh Vaccination Certification Service (WVCS), delivered by Swansea Council’s contact tracing team. People can request a bilingual NHS COVID Pass letter by calling 0300 303 5667.
The NHS App that is used in England is not available for people to use in Wales currently. Work is ongoing to integrate England’s NHS App and NHS Wales systems to allow people in Wales to use it.
The COVID Pass will initially be available in English only whilst development of the bilingual service takes place. The WVCS will continue to offer a bilingual service.
Our advice remains the same, we are encouraging people not to travel overseas unless it is absolutely essential.
